Doing + reading

Doing: Enjoying being a part of the Art Guild Pacifica Member Show at Sanchez Art Center (and gallery sitting!) In exploration mode, reading, looking and messing around with various media.

Reading: Kay Hurley’s Lichenpedia, a hand-pleasing clothbound book that is waaaaay more interesting than the title might suggest. “… The definition of a lichen as a dual organism made up of a fungus and an alga caused a huge furor in the nineteenth century. Many thought it was just plain wrong — how can one thing be two things? Some thought the fungus must be a parasite on the alga. Others thought they each derived benefit. These thoughts gave rise to a new word, “symbiosis”…”
